It is envisaged in the future that this trophy will be played as the Seniors Golfer of the year based on scores over the 6 away outings precise details will be at a later date.

Tom Hogan will now be the proud owner of this trophy for the coming year. The Seniors were in high praise of the course which was a special factor in a very enjoyable game of golf. Credits for this must go to the course manager Liam and his volunteers not forgetting our expert green keeper Jack.

We had a great meal in Murphy hostelry in the Main Street . Excellent entertainment was provided by the Dynamic Duo Tommy and PJ.

There was plenty of contributors from the Seniors who were in good voice. There was practically a full attendance of the seniors group. Attendance included our new Captain Martin ,vice caption Tommy with president Tony O Toole. We also had the honour of one of our seniors in attendance on the night who is our president elect of the GUI 2017, Mr. John McLoughney. John also gave us a rendition of nice music from the pipes.

It was a great day out with a lovely evening and great music and craic to finish off.

Seniors Report and Results Thursday 15th. Dec.

The seniors endured their outing in Templemore on Thursday 15th. inst.

as the course was naturally soft but the greens were in good condition.

There were 6 teams, all enjoyed their golf and escaped without the rain.

We did have an incident on the course but thankfully all went well.

One of our seniors in trying to retrieve his ball on the 5th. hole but slipped and fell into the drain.

Fortunately, his playing partners were diligent and realising what could have been serious was immediately taken care of, with nothing but a mucky and wet experience.  It was an early finish of course but all turned well T.G.

“Golf is deceptively simple and endlessly complicated. It satisfies the soul and frustrates the intellect, at the same time it is rewarding and maddening, without a doubt the greatest game mankind has ever invented.  Arnold Palmer.”

Wishing all a very happy and peaceful Christmas.
