Club Classic Fundraiser.

27th & 28th June.  Our Club Classic Fundraiser is fast approaching and will take place on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th June.  This is the major fundraising event of the year for the club, and we are asking for the full support of all members—ladies and gents—as well as encouraging non-members and visiting teams to take part.  There are some fantastic prizes on offer, making it a great weekend of competitive golf, social enjoyment, and club spirit.  To book your team, please contact Claire on 085 824 9626.  We would encourage all members to get involved and also to help spread the word to friends, family, and fellow golfers. The success of this event is vital to the continued development of the club, and every entry and contribution makes a real difference.  Let’s make this year’s Club Classic a great success both on and off the course.

Weekend Competition Corner.

7/6Weekend 18-Hole Stroke Play Competition.  The weather was far from kind over the weekend and, combined with the Junior Cup fixture and the club’s victory celebrations, contributed to a smaller-than-usual turnout for the 18-hole Stroke Play competition.  Blustery winds and frequent squally showers made conditions extremely challenging, testing even the most experienced golfers. As a result, many competitors found scoring difficult and returned higher scores than they would have hoped for. Despite the adverse weather, several players produced commendable performances.  Leading the way was Denis Ryan, who claimed first place with an excellent nett score of 72. Eamonn McGrath secured second place on a nett 74, while Jody Boyle took third spot with a nett 75 after a determined round in difficult conditions.  Congratulations to all the prize winners and to everyone who braved the elements to compete. With hopefully more settled weather on the horizon, we look forward to seeing larger fields return in the coming weeks to enjoy our course at its best.

Ladies Revive Active Competition.

Representing your club in a nationwide competition is a special honour, and each of you did so with great pride, sportsmanship, and distinction.  A sincere word of appreciation goes to the entire team for wearing the club colours with such pride and for being outstanding ambassadors for the club both at home and away. Your dedication, teamwork, and enthusiasm reflect the very best of our club and are a source of great pride for all members.  We wish the team every success in the next round and look forward to following your continued progress in this highly competitive national event.  Well done, ladies, and thank you for representing the club so magnificently on the provincial and national stage.

Men’s Seniors.

11/6.  On a day when there was much discussion about when summer might finally arrive, ten groups headed out and were fortunate enough to complete their rounds mostly dry. Despite the uncertain weather, scoring was generally very good, and an enjoyable day’s golf was had by all.  Claiming 1st. place with an excellent 54 points were Tom McGrath, John Galvin, John Egan and Jim Casey.  Just one point behind in 2nd. place on 53 points were Brendan Russell, Joe Bergson, James Murray and Jerry O’Dwyer.  Taking 3rd. place were Birdie Ryan, Francis Murphy, Paddy Bourke and Mick Maher with another fine team performance.  Congratulations to all the prize winners and well done to everyone who took part.  A special word of thanks to all our senior golfers for their continued support of the weekly competition. It is very encouraging to see the Men’s Seniors continue to grow in popularity, with excellent participation, great camaraderie, and a welcoming atmosphere enjoyed by all. The competition has become an important social and sporting fixture in the club calendar.  We encourage all participants to keep spreading the word among fellow senior golfers and to invite new members to come along and join in. The continued success of the competition depends on the enthusiasm and support of our members, and it would be wonderful to see even more golfers enjoying these weekly outings in the months ahead.  Well played everyone, and here’s hoping for a little more sunshine for next week’s competition.
