Seamus Cody Cup.

20/12.  A special thanks from Captain Les Mason and to all those that attended the cup presentation. Also, a special thanks to Seamus Bourke son in-law to the late Seamus Cody who presented the Seamus Cody Cup to the winner Bernie O’Rourke.  Seamus Cody is a legend to the Golf Club. He served as President in 2005 and Captain in 1977.  He was one of the architect on the evolution of the golf course today and course manager for several years. The Club today owes a great gratitude to Seamus Cody and his family for presenting to the club the perpetual trophy by his son  Andrew Cody in 2017.

 

Scratch Cup Trophy.

20/12. Captain Les Mason Presented the perpetual “Claret Jug” to the Intermediate winner Johnny Coleman.  Johnny is a son in-law to Seamus Bourke.  No Doubt, keeping up the family extraordinary legacy of the Cody and Bourke family in the club.  Minor winner was Ryan Coleman son of Ginny Coleman a great club Competitor and Nephew to Johnny Coleman.  A great golf family combination.

20/12.  A majority of the Classic, Autumn league and other prizes were presented.  We still have a few left to present, so any winners contact Captain Les Mason or Pat O’Connell to arrange pick up.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank the men’s Competition Secretary Pat O’Connell, he has done fantastic work this year and as Men’s Captain I cannot thank him enough.  Club Captain Les Mason.

 

Storm Darragh Damage.

17/12.  Volunteer Manager and Club President Tommy Foley put a call out for volunteers to clear the fairways from Debrie as a result of storm Darragh.  Their are some major trees down and are now cleared to one side for removal.  A big thank you to all the volunteers who turned out.  A special tribute from Tommy Foley and to all the volunteers over the year as they made the course playable with continuity.  Well done to all the lads again.

Ongoing 9 holes stableford competition. Green markers. Placing everywhere. Bunkers in play. Entry €5 re-entry €3.

 

Men’s Seniors.

19/12 On a bitter cold day in Templemore, Eight teams went out to participate in the fun of the seniors in 1st. place with 61 points was Bernie O’Rourke, Colm Dooley, Joe Hennessy and Eoin Wolahan.  Their were  5 teams on 59 points.  A special algorithm was required to balanced these team, so in 2nd.on Countback we have Sean Cashman, Paddy Fogarty, Jim Casey and John Stapleton also on Countback in 3rd. Place Paudie Butler, John Galvin and Liam Leahy well played all and well played all who have played this Seniors golfing year.

 

Men’s Christmas Festivity.

19/12  Its that time of year again when we celebrate the festive season of Templemore Seniors. Thursday 19th December our usual game of golf followed by our senior’s AGM. The 2024 Accounts was presented, any updates on the year ahead and allow questions and suggestions. We then adjourn to Murphys for Christmas Lunch. There was the usual raffle plus the handing out of the accumulated First and Second Prizes, all topped off with music supplied by Templemore Golf Clubs President Tommy Foley was lead belter vocals and guitar percusion , Pascall Whelan on Drums and Maestro Extraordinary James Casey on a selection of tin whistles and tenor Sinatra vocals.  Well done to Captain Les Mason and Competition secretary Pat O’Connell for a lovely end of year celebration with backing vocals from many singers who showed their talents. Happy Christmas to one and all as we look forward to more of the same in 2025.

 

Club AGM

10th. Jan. 2025.  The AGM for Templemore Golf Club will take place on Jan 10th 2025 at 7.30pm in the clubhouse. Nominations for officers 2025 and those already proposed for election 2025 . Please note that nomination forms must be returned by Friday Dec. 27th.

14/11 A big thank you from volunteer Manager Tommy Foley to the seniors who turned out in force for voluntary work on the course yesterday. Brilliant work all round.

50/50 Draw Appeal.

16/11  Dear members, just a reminder that the 50/50 lotto is continually running fortnightly and every euro is hugely appreciated. The funds raised will contribute to the continued upkeep and development of our course. The new 50/50 lotto year starts 1st. December, but please note it is 26 draws from when you pay.  €50 for 1 entry fortnightly (26 weeks).  €100 for 3 entries fortnightly (26 weeks).  Entry every fortnight in the clubhouse is €2 per entry or €5 for 3 entries.

If you wish to partake in our lotto, please use envelopes provided or if none available, please put your fee in an envelope and write Club Lotto, your name, phone number and fee amount and place in box in lobby. Thank you all in advance for all your support during the year.

 

Management Committee.

16/11 50/50 draw.  For those of you who are already entered in the lotto draw, your lotto will continue until the end of your 26 week period. If you wish you can now or when your lotto ends top it up to the end of the financial year of the club (30 November).  This move to start the lotto each year on the 1st of December is to facilitate easier monitoring and managing of the fundraiser. We thank all of you who continue to support this fundraiser and request those of you who have not yet participated, to please join the lotto, as it is an essential fundraiser for the upkeep and development of the course. The Management Committee.

 

Week-end Competition.

18/11  We had a good turnout of 57 entries for our 9 holes Stableford competition with a good few re-entries. 1st. Michael Purcell 22 pts (on count back). 2nd. Padraig Moloney 22 pts. 3rd John Kiely 21 pts.

 

Men’s Seniors.

5/11  On a day that deteriorated towards the end. 5 teams of hardy souls braved the elements and some good scores were returned. In 1st. place with 60 points were Bernie O’Rourke, Tommy Foley, Colm Dooley and Jim Casey. In 2nd. with 59 points Paudie Butler, John Mullally, John Stapleton and Jim Middleton and in 3rd. place on Countback with 57 points Liam Daly, Pat O’Connell, Les Mason and Phil Ryan Snr. Well played all.

 

14/11 On a grey but dry day and exceptional weather for November 8 teams took to the course. In 1st. place with 56 points were Birdy Ryan, Ambrose Purcell, George Collins, Eoin Wolahan.  2nd.place with 54 points on Countback was Eamon Connolly, Pat Looby, Les Mason and James Murray and in 3rd. place also on 54 points was Paudie Butler, Mick Carey, Pat O’Connell and Jim Middleton.  We’ll played all.
