Templemore Golf Club News;

 

President’s Prize, Saturday 30th. Sept.  Both Presidents, Tony O’Toole and Maura Sheehan welcome all to compete in this last major event of the season.  The Ladies Tee off time will be at 1, O’Clock on Saturday 30th.  As the evenings are getting shorter, any Gents that can play on Friday 29th. will be appreciated.  The presentations will  be in the Templemore Arms on Saturday Night 30th. The event will commence at 9pm. sharp in the Function Room, so all are requested to attend pre 9pm.  There will be lively entertainment with refreshment food and no admission charge, so all members are encouraged to bring all their family and friends to make this a great Social Night for your club.

 

Time Sheets;   Time sheets are now in place for the Presidents Prize for Fri. 29th. and Sat. 30th.  Place your preference time on the time-sheet to avoid delays.

 

Ladies Golf;

Presidents Social Mixed;  The Presidents Social mixed was held on Sunday September 24th. There was a great crowd present on the day, in what turned out to be a beautiful morning for golf.  Results:  1st. Team;  Kieran Hassett, Gerry Keegan, Ann O’Rourke.  2nd. Team;  Rody Cawley, Brendan Russell, Mary Ann Maher.  3rd. Team;  Liam Leahy, Paul Tuohy, Margaret Moran.

 

Tuesday 19th.  18H\S\P;  Congratulations to the winner,  Sheila Delaney.

 

Ladies Events;  Glens Trophy Competition;  Any lady who is interested in playing in the Glens Trophy Competition should write their name on the notice in the Clubhouse. This Foursomes Competition will be held in Birr on October 4th. Details on notice board.

 

Murphy’s Competition will be held on Saturday October 7th.

 

Presidents Prize;  We look forward to lots of Golf this weekend when the Presidents Prize will take place and we wish Maura and Tony the very best of luck in what we expect to be a very enjoyable event.

 

Volunteers;  Well done to all the volunteers that helped to make the course ready for the Presidents Prize weekend.  All appreciated.

 

Men’s Singles Match play;  This event is coming to an exciting finish.   The current match play-offs are as follows. A; Jerry Keegan jnr. V Sean Lee, V B; Conor Sheedy  V (D)  Seamus Bourke V Hugh Scott.  It’s important that these players contact each other to finalize their play-offs as soon as possible.

 

Golfer of the Year;  Important!  There is still plenty of opportunities to gain or increase your points for this prestigious event.  The current placing are on the notice board.  This is an accumulation of all points achieved  from all competitions throughout the year.

 

All Ireland Captains Competition; Sat 16th. this event was held in Roscrea Golf Club and a special thanks to Dessie Hennessy for representing Templemore Golf Club in this prestigious event.

 

Twin Town Cup;  The contest took place last week in “Potenza Picana” in Italy.  A total of 18 people travelled from Templemore for the occasion.  The team from Templemore was headed by our Club Captain, Martin Bohan, including Mick Connell, Michael Healy, Joe O’Connor, Tom McGrath, John Stapleton and Sean Lee.  They competed against a team from “Potenza Picana” and also from “Premilhat” in France.  The competition was held in “Corero Golf Club” with the Italian team retaining the trophy.  By all accounts everyone had a great time and were well looked after  by their host.  Worthy of a revisit again.

Bereavement;  A minute silence was observed in respect to the passing of P.J. Moran on Tuesday 19th. September.  Former Club President, 1988-1996.  “ May he rest in Peace”.

 

White Dowling Society President;  Congratulation to President Pat Costello on his very successful President Prize held in Roscrea Golf Course on Sat. 23rd.  and also to the winner John Stakelum. There was a delightful presentation of prizes in Murphy’s Pub  that evening with a fantastic quality meal provided.  Also an appreciation was expressed to invited guest Captain Martin Bohan and President Tony O’Toole.

Juvenile Golf;   Any Juveniles who do not have their own Golf Clubs and want to continue or to take up this great Game can contact; Pat O’Connell 087-9205821 and he will organise a kit for them from the Templemore Lions Club “ Golf Clubs Wanted” project.  This is a great support project between “Templemore Golf Club” and “Templemore Lions Club” to help juveniles continue with this great game.

Social Mix;  Wed 6th. Sept.  1st Team, Paul Touhy, Dinny Maher, Mary O Connor.  2nd Team, Seamus Bourke, Frank Shortt, Mary Moore.  This was the final Social Mix for 2017.  It was well attended and all were very much appreciative to the Ladies for continuing with this great event throughout the year.  Club President Tony O’Toole congratulated the Ladies on making this event a vibrant, active, and noticeable event so that all golfers can take part in it.  Lady Hon Secretary Kay Brennan congratulated Lady President Maura Sheehan and Lady Comp. Secretary Josie Moloney for their due diligence in making this a successful event.

Templemore Golf Club Notes;

 

Templemore Golf Club Fund Raising Classic Saturday 2nd. Sept.    It was an amazing success from all club members showing their support by entering as many teams as possible which made this Classic a great success.  The presentation night was in Murphy’s Pub and it was also a delight to see so many turned up to share their delight of this event and the winners.  The night was hosted by Club Captain Martin Bohan who expressed his delight in the response from all the club members and sponsors and paid a special tribute to all the sponsors that without their support these events would not be possible and expressed that all members should appreciate this and return the favour in business to them.  The Club Competition Secretary Liam Leahy officiated the winners and paid a special tribute to John Alexandra for his expert work ethic on the course and also a special mention of appreciation to all the volunteers who gave their own time to making this Golf Course a special place to play the great game of Golf.  A special thanks to our main sponsor, Centenary Thurles Co.Op. and also to all our sponsors, Trump Dunbeg, Templemore Arms, John Mullally Mensware, Bourke’s Filling Station Costcutter, Michael and Catherine Ryan Corner Shop, Peter’s Fruit and Veg, Murphys Bar and Restaurant, Pat Stakelum Mensware Thurles.

Athlone Golf Day;  On wed. 30th. Aug.  A Golf Outing Day was arranged in Athlone Golf Club for Templemore Golf Club by John Stapleton.  A great number turned up for this event and it was a fantastic scenic day with glorious sunshine followed by a fantastic meal and great banter.  Congratulation to John for his efforts on organising this great social event for the Templemore Golf Club.
