Fred Perry Interclub Competition.

28th. May.  Fred Perry Trophy Team victory over Mitchelstown, final result 4;1 wins for first 3 pairs, with back 2 up by 3 and 2 holes respectively.  Congratulations to Liam Leahy and all the players a great result. Templemore now travel away to play Cahir Park in the area semi-final.

 

18h. S/F Competition.

28th. May.  The good weather and the excellent course conditions brought great results.  1st. Eamon McGrath 46pts.  2nd. Donal Hayes 41pts.  3rd. Trevor Quinn 37pts.

 

Women Getting Into Golf Programme.

27th.May, was the 8th. round of “Getting Into Golf” programme.  A continued dedicated turn out. Todays session was “Scramble with Club Members” on a full fairway.  The enthusiasm was fantastic and all were very pleased with their progress.  The programme will continue every Saturday morning from 10am to 12 noon up to June 10th.  The next leg on June 3rd. will consist of playing a scramble with current members.  A great development for all.  If anyone wants to join the programme contact Ladies Captain Mary Gilmartin. 087-7992355.

 

Seniors Golf.

25th. May. A Loyal turn out, on a beautiful Italian summer’s day.  The scoring was extremely high due to a great run on the ball and magnificent greens.  In first place with 51pts. Paudie Butler, George Collins, Seanie Gleeson, Christy O’ Rourke.  In second place.  Pat Maher, Tony O’Toole, Michael Murphy, Jim Gilmartin.  In third place.  Jim Gleeson, Tom Kenny, Gerry Hayes.

Pierce Purcell Interclub Competition.

20th. May.  Well done to Purcell team on 3.5 / 1.5 win over Tipperary in a most exciting encounter this afternoon. Padraig Moloney/Pat Looby claimed the vital point on the 18th with earlier wins for Seamus Bourke/Joe Fahey and Bertie Keane/Ted Kennedy.  Jerome Ryan/Jim Russell lost on the 18th while Denis Ryan/Paul Tuohy were called in. Team V Tipperary: P Moloney + P Looby; B Keane + T Kennedy; J Russell + J Ryan; S Bourke + J Fahey; D Ryan + P Tuohy. Subs: T Quinn, M Purcell, M Fogarty, A Purcell, E Connolly and T Mc Grath.

 

Women’s AIG Minor Cup

22nd. May. Congratulations to the Women Minor Cup team who defeated Faithlegg and are now in the third round of the AIG Minor Cup.

18th. May. On a fantastic day for golf in Templemore, 9 teams took advantage of our course in great condition and the scoring reflected that. The first 3 teams all scored 56 points and were separated on count-back.  In 1st. place Donal Golden, Mick Murphy, Pascal Whelan and Michael Healy.  2nd.  place John Kirwan, Pat Maher, John Egan and Willie Haverty. 3rd. place Paddy Fogarty, John Mullally, Colm Dooley and John Stapleton great shooting all.

18 hole Stableford

21st. May.  The winner on countback with 38 points was Matty Stapleton with Michael Fogarty in Second place.

 

50/50 Draw.

21st. May.  The 50/50 draw of 200 Euros was won by John Hassett.

Doonbeg Social Golf.

Captain Declan Kennedy expressed appreciation on behalf of the club to Tommy Foley for organising the golf outing in Doonbeg for club members last month. This was a very successful and enjoyable event for all. The smooth running of the event was also contributed to Tom Kenny and his Son Kevin who is the course manager in Doonbeg. A contribution of €130 was raised from the event and presented to the Templemore Golf Juveniles. Congratulations to the winner Joe Fahy and all prize winners.  Also, a thank you to all who played and contributed to the occasion. Kind regards, Club Captain Declan Kennedy.

 

J.B. Diamond Trophy Team.

13th.May.  Congratulations to the J.B. team and managers Mick Carey and Liam Daly, on successfully beating Cahir Park in Templemore.  A great victory of 3 to 2, following another great win over Ballykisteen.   Well done to all. the return leg in Cahir on Sunday 21st. Winning this, Templemore will be County Champions.  The panel is – S. Bourke, P. Bourke, J. Fahey, B. Keane, G. Keegan,  M. Keely, L. Leahy, P. Looby, D. Maher, T. McGrath, B. O’Rourke, A. Purcell, J. Russell, D. Tuohy.  The J.B. Carr Diamond Trophy was inaugurated by Woodenbridge Golf Club in 1996. This popular event has effectively become the Senior Club Championship of Ireland (Over 60’s) with some 200 or so clubs from every corner of Ireland participating. The semi-finals and finals are held each year in Woodenbridge Golf Club, usually over the second weekend of September.  Templemore were successful in achieving 3rd. place in 2018. Narrowly beaten by Portumna who were defeated by the winners, The K Club.  A very memorable occasion.

 

Ladies Getting Into Golf Programme.

13th.May, was the 6th. round of “Getting Into Golf” programme.  A continued dedicated turn out of over 70 ladies who never played this wonderful game before.  The programme covers a wide range of required skills to play the game comfortable.  Also included are golf technical instructions from a local golf Pro Shane Ryan.  The programme will continue every Saturday morning from 10am to 12 noon up to June 10th.  The next leg on May20th. will consist of playing with current members.  A great development for all.  If anyone wants to join the programme contact Ladies Captain Mary Gilmartin. 087-7992355.

 

18 Hole Stableford Competition.

14th. May.  On a warm Saturday and cooler Sunday there was a good turnout for the 18 hole Stableford.  On Sat 13th. and Sunday 14th. May.  In First place with 42 points, John Keily.  In Second with 39 points, Oliver Murray.  In Third place with points, Tom McGrath.  Well done to all.

 

Seniors Golf.

11th. May. Well on what looked like an iffy morning rain gear in fashion, 8 teams set out and were stripping off after the first hole. We got in before the rain started again for a convivial cuppa and the results were, in 1st. place with 51 points, Pat O’Connell, Mick Maher and Jim Casey in 2nd. place on count-back with 50 points, John Hassett, Liam Daly, Tony O’Toole and Jim Gilmartin, and in 3rd. place also with 50 points, Bertie Keane, Bernie O’Rourke and Tom Hogan.  Well done all and a special thanks to Mrs Hogan for the wonderful Cakes.

25th. April.  Congratulations to Liam Daly and Mick Carey Managers of the J.B. team Templemore, on successfully beating Ballykisteen.

 

29th. April.  Well done to our Fred Daly team who were narrowly defeated by a very strong “Faithlegg Golf Club, Waterford,” team. On behalf of the Club Pat O’Connell Manager expressed gratitude to the lads for representing the club in the manner they did. The Club can be proud of their efforts and the future looks bright for new competitive players also the best of luck to the Faithlegg team going forward.

 

30th. April.  Congratulations Tom McGrath and Dinny Touhy managers, and to the Pierce Purcell Team with a great victory against Slievenamon.   It was nail biting stuff with one win on the 19th and the last match winning on the 18th.

1st. May.  Bank holiday weekend. The weather was good and the course was in excellent condition thanks to Dinny Maher and Pat Shelly. These excellent conditions led to some good scoring. In first place with 42 points was Joe Hennessy; In second with 39 points was John Galvin and in Third place with 36 points, on count-back, was Michael Fogarty. Well done all.

6th.May. On a the first May weekend, The weather was still stuck in April and the 18 hole stableford was played in showery conditions. It was a close finish with the first three places separated on countback. In 1st. place with 36 points was Michael Purcell in 2nd. place also on 36 points was Donal Hayes and in 3rd place with 36 points was Brian Kennedy. Well done all.

 

Seniors Golf.

26th. April. So even on a Wednesday we got a great turnout and the weather was better than forecast which highlighted the fantastic condition the course is in. There was mixed scoring from the seven teams. In First place with 54 points were Eamonn Connolly, Tony O’Toole and Donal Golden. In Second Place with 53 points Liam Leahy, Pat O’Connell, John Egan and Pat Maher and in Third place with 51 points were Bernie O’Rourke, Gerry Hayes, George Collins and Colm Dooley. Hopefully we will be back to our usual Thursday next week. Well done all

4th.May.  The force was with the Eight Seniors teams that ventured out on the course this morning, and there was good scoring across the board. In First place with 53 points was Jim Gleeson, John Egan, Tom Kenny and Rody Crawley. In Second place was John Galvin, Pat Maher, Les Mason and Pascal Whelan. In Third place on count-back with 51 points was Eamon Conolly, Pat O’Connell, Phil Ryan Snr. and Tommy Deegan.  A particular thanks to the Course team for doing the vital drainage work around us and allowing the Seniors to play.. Thank You
