Fred Perry GUI Trophy; National Semi-final-V- Woodenbridge Golf Club in Rosses Point Golf Course on 26th. 27th. Sept.   Templemore Fred Perry Team, visited Rosses Point in Sligo on Thursday  19th. for a practice round.  The course and Scenery was magnificent.  All played the course well.  Very daunting fairways and a challenge to any player.  Full support would be great for the team on Thursday 26th. and Friday 27th.    Tom McGrath has brokered a deal with “Yates County Hotel” for €60 which also covers evening meal. 3Ts Golf Team;  Congratulations to the Templemore 3Ts team, Club Captain Tony O’Toole, Mary Hayes, Ann O’Rourke, Pat O’Connoll in the first regional round of the 3Ts Golf Tournament held at Dundrum House Hotel, Golf & Leisure Resort on 10th September last. Qualifying teams now proceed to the Ryder Cup Course at the The K Club on Monday 14th. October. Qualifying teams from the Tipperary regional round are: 1st place: Lahinch Golf Club (84 Pts).  2nd place: Dundrum House Hotel, Golf & Leisure Resort (84 Pts).  3rd place: Borris, Carlow (83 Pts).  4th place: Newlands Golf Club (81 Pts).  5th. place: Templemore Golf Club (81 Pts).

 

Ladies Golf;  Tipperary League semi-final on Sunday Sept 15th in Tipperary town golf club.   The Ladies made a gallant effort against Dundrum.. It was all to play for as Bernie Stapleton and Mary Hogan battled to the 20th. hole almost in the dark!  Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be Templemore’s day but congrats to all for the gallant effort. Templemore were represented by Mary Hayes Kenny, Mary Gilmartin, Anne O ‘Rourke, Ann Kenny, Bernie Stapleton and Mary Hogan.

 

Senior results for Thursday 19th. competition. With our Fred Perry team away at Rosses Point having a look at the course we still had an excellent turnout of 27 players in today’s competition. In 1st. place with 53pt.  were Paudie Butler, Willie Haverty, Tom Kennedy, Tom Hogan. 2nd. with 52pts. George Murray, Sean Lee, Paddy Nolan, Mick Connell, and in 3rd. place with 45pts Jerry Keegan Pat O Connell and Les Mason.

LMC Update;  The table is changing now with Pat O’Connell in 3rd. place, Bertie Keane in 8th. place and Bernie O’Rourke in 6th. Place.  Great to see 3 Templemore Members still in the top 10 position with a competitive field in excess of 145 which creates a fantastic awareness in the golfing ratings that Templemore Golf Club are a very competitive club. Also, it’s an honor to have a Templemore member as President of the LMC Mr. Phil Ryan.  His LMC President Prize date will be on Saturday 5th. October in Templemore which will have in excess of 100 members from various clubs taking part.  We wish Phil all the success with the event.

 

“Cadets Membership” ;   You can join the Cadets anytime from the age of 8 to 15 Boys and Girls and Cadet youths Age 15 to 18 Boys and Girls.   All members who have a junior family member that has an interest in Golf should encourage them to call in on Wed and Friday’s.  If new to the game, clubs will be made available to those that do not have them.  This is an opportunity to build members for the future of the Club.  All training will be in association with CGI (Confederation of Golf Ireland) guidelines and will continue throughout the year.  Do your best to promote this venture.  A special practice range is now in place for the Cadets.  Contact Pat O’ Connell. 087-9205821 Club Juvenile Liaison Officer. Come along if you are interested in playing Golf

Fundraising Club Classic;  The Club Fundraising Classic from Thurs. 12th. to Sun.15th. was a huge success.  The course was in supreme condition and the weather was perfect for Golf. Phil Ryan, Classic Committee Chairperson expressed much appreciation to all who supported and those competed, especially to the support and help from Declan Russell, Donal Hayes, Tom McGrath and Pat O’Connell also special acknowledgment to all the business, community, sponsorship and donations received.  Club Captain Tony O’Toole congratulated all involved and highlighted the high-profile status of the club in the local and wider community and also in the Golf Competitive arena.  The funds will help to provide the best facilities for furthering the careers of the Cadets, Seniors and all the competitive club members in this great game of Golf in providing more equipment for this great amenity in Templemore.

3Ts Golf Team;  The popular 3Ts. Golf Tournament is an awareness campaign to highlight the issues of suicide in Ireland. Provincial round was in Dundrum on Tuesday 10th.  Representing Templemore are; Captain Tony O’Toole, Club Secretary Pat O’Connell, Ladies, Ann O’Rourke and Mary Hayes.  A fantastic day of enjoyable Golf in great weather conditions made it a very enjoyable golf outing.

 

Diageo Midlands Mixed Foursomes V Thurles; Templemore team battled hard in Roscrea Golf Club the host club for this great competition on Fri 13th Sept. V Thurles Golf Club.  It was a very competitive competition with Seamus Bourke and Shelia Delaney having a decisive clear win followed by Joe O’Connor and Kathleen Maher leaving the battle to Declan Russell and Mary Hayes.  They displayed some great golf and their determination to win took the game to the 19th. hole only to be narrowly defeated by Thurles.  “A Victory in defeat” as this competition was the Semi final after 12 teams took part in the overall tournament which rates Templemore Golf Club as a very competitive club in both Men’s and Ladies.

 

All Ireland Captains;  The “All Ireland Captains” Representing the club will be Club Captains Prize winners, Eoin Fitzpatrick and Sadie Tynann in Roscrea Golf Club.   Sadie Tynann competition will be on the 17th. Sept and Eoin Fitzpatrick will be on Sat. 21st. Sept.. Last year representatives were, Pat Looby and Bernie Fitzpatrick.  Pat succeeded on winning the event and enjoyed a Golf Holiday in the Algarve.  Best of luck to both.

 

Ladies Tipperary League.  The second round of Tipperary league(semifinal) 4 ball,  another “Victory in Defeat” as the ladies took the competition to the 20th. hole in this Semi Final, displays the determination and competitiveness of the Templemore Ladies.  Great ambassadors for the club.

Templemore Golf Club News; 

 

Templemore victorious at GUI Inaugural Fred Perry Munster Trophy;  A fantastic victory for Templemore Golf Club -V- East Cork at the Cork Golf Club (Little Island) Sunday 8th. Sept.  It was a very decisive win by Templemore over a very prestigious club.  Templemore team played with great determination and resulted in the winning of the inaugural GUI “Fred Perry Trophy”.  Templemore are the first Munster team to win this GUI trophy.  The Trophy was presented to the Team Captain Seanie Gleeson and the Pennant for the club was presented to Club Captain Tony O’Toole by Jim Long, Munster GUI Chairman.  The individual achievement of the day was an Eagle scored by Seamus Bourke on the 11th. hole which was only achieved before by Seve Ballesteros, there is a monument at this hole to Seve achievement. This achievement displays the high standard of competitive golf by Templemore Golfers.  The team pairings were;  Seamus Bourke-Liam Daly, Joe Fahy-Ambrose Purcell, Tom McGrath-Bertie Keane, Joe O’Connor-Mattie Bourke, Denis Maher-Padraig Moloney, Subs, Denis Touhy, Michael Purcell, John Hassett, Tom Kenny.  Match wins;  Seamus Bourke and Liam Daly won the first match for Templemore, closing out their match on the 16th.  Tom McGrath and Bertie Keane won 4&3. Templemore’s final pairing Denis Maher and Padraig Moloney put the pressure on and won on the 15th green.  enough to secure the final GUI Munster Pennant of 2019 for Templemore.  The next round is the National Finals in Rosses Point Golf Club, Co. Sligo on Thursday 26th. and Friday 27th. Sept. Templemore-V- Woodenbridge, in the Semi Final.  Strabane-V- Gort.  Best of Luck to all the Templemore Team.

Fundraising Club Classic;  The Club Fundraising Classic will commence on Wed. Sept.11th. to Sunday Sept. 15th.  €100 per team of 4.  All clubs in the region will be more than welcome, and also all organising that want to field a team for this great cause in providing more equipment for this great amenity in Templemore to secure its future for the up and coming “Cadets” so that they will have the best facilities for furthering their careers in this great game of Golf  possible

Fundraising Club Classic;  The Club Fundraising Classic will commence on Wed. Sept.11 th. to Sunday Sept. 15th.  €100 per team of 4.  All clubs in the region will be more than welcome, and also all organising that want to field a team for this great cause in providing more equipment for this great amenity in Templemore to secure its future for the up and coming “Cadets” so that they will have the best facilities for furthering their careers in this great game of Golf.

 

Week -End Golf.  Results 18H. stroke GOY, 24th & 25th August 1st. Declan Russell 69. 2nd. John Hassett 70. 3rd. Padraig Moloney 72 . Club classic is on Wednesday 11th to Sunday 15th Sept, team of four 100 euro, please support.

 

Seniors Golf;   Results of Thursday’s seniors golf. 1st. with 54pts. were;  Jerry Keegan, Seamus Ryan, Tony O’TOOLE, and Frankie Shortt. 2nd. with 50pts. on a count back, John Fitzpatrick, Ollie Murray and Pat Maher.  3rd. also with 50pts. were John Hassett, PJ Leahy, Paddy Nolan, and Pat O Connell.

Club classic starts next Thursday. No senior competition that day. However, if you wish to take part in the golf classic on that day please contact Philip Ryan for further information.

 

“Cadets” ;   You can join the Cadets anytime from the age of 8 to 15 Boys and Girls and Cadet youths Age 15 to 18 Boys and Girls.   All members who have a junior family member that has an interest in Golf should encourage them to call in on Wed and Friday’s.  If new to the game, clubs will be made available to those that do not have them.  This is an opportunity to build members for the future of the Club.  All training will be in association with CGI (Confederation of Golf Ireland) guidelines and will continue throughout the year.  Do your best to promote this venture.  A special practice range is now in place for the Cadets.  Contact Pat O’ Connell. 087-9205821 Club Juvenile Liaison Officer. Come along if you are interested in playing Golf

 

Cadet Training;  Training will continue, on Saturdays only at 1 o’clock to facilitate other sport activities times.  Thanks for all the support from parents and volunteers and look forward to continuing throughout the year.

 

Social Mix; A great turn out of Ladies and Gents.  This is a fantastic event for all Youth Cadets to take part as the mix will bring great competition experience to beginner golfers.  The winners for Wed.14th. were; 1st. Team, Joe Fitzpatrick, Breda Murphy, Declan Russell, Kieran Molloy (Garda College).  2nd Team; Kevin Fitzpatrick, Seamus Bourke, Silvio Bondila (Garda College), Joe O’Connor.

 

Ladies;  Well done to the Templemore ladies and Management in the Tipperary League in Dundrum who were victorious over Cahir on Sunday 1st Sept..  Another great success for Templemore Ladies Golf.

 

LMC;  Great to see 2 Templemore Members in the top 10 position;  Bernie O’ Rourke in 2nd. place, and Bertie Keane in 8th. Place with a field in excess of 150.  Phil Ryan (Templemore) President Prize date has been changed to Saturday 5th. October in Templemore.

 

“New Members” Special Rate.  Pay now and your membership will be up to Dec 2020.  There is a “Special Fee” for beginners which is guaranteed not to change for 3 years.  This is very attractive for anyone new interested in joining and for those purchasing vouchers to give a life changing experience to someone.  New members are now been accepted.  All current members are encouraged to introduce at least “ONE NEW MEMBER” Lady or Gent, Junior or Student, Seniors Juveniles and Family, Active Retiree’s, Special Needs or any person interested in taking up the sport.  It will be a huge advantage to building the club membership and profile.
