Templemore Golf Club News; 

 

Fred Perry GUI Trophy; National Semi-final-V- Woodenbridge Golf Club in Rosses Point Golf Course on 26th. 27th. Sept.   Templemore Fred Perry Team, visited Rosses Point in Sligo on Thursday  19th. for a practice round.  The course and Scenery was magnificent.  All played the course well.  Very daunting fairways and a challenge to any player.  Full support would be great for the team on Thursday 26th. and Friday 27th.    Tom McGrath has brokered a deal with “Yates County Hotel” for €60 which also covers evening meal. 3Ts Golf Team;  Congratulations to the Templemore 3Ts team, Club Captain Tony O’Toole, Mary Hayes, Ann O’Rourke, Pat O’Connoll in the first regional round of the 3Ts Golf Tournament held at Dundrum House Hotel, Golf & Leisure Resort on 10th September last. Qualifying teams now proceed to the Ryder Cup Course at the The K Club on Monday 14th. October. Qualifying teams from the Tipperary regional round are: 1st place: Lahinch Golf Club (84 Pts).  2nd place: Dundrum House Hotel, Golf & Leisure Resort (84 Pts).  3rd place: Borris, Carlow (83 Pts).  4th place: Newlands Golf Club (81 Pts).  5th. place: Templemore Golf Club (81 Pts).

 

Ladies Golf;  Tipperary League semi-final on Sunday Sept 15th in Tipperary town golf club.   The Ladies made a gallant effort against Dundrum.. It was all to play for as Bernie Stapleton and Mary Hogan battled to the 20th. hole almost in the dark!  Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be Templemore’s day but congrats to all for the gallant effort. Templemore were represented by Mary Hayes Kenny, Mary Gilmartin, Anne O ‘Rourke, Ann Kenny, Bernie Stapleton and Mary Hogan.

 

Senior results for Thursday 19th. competition. With our Fred Perry team away at Rosses Point having a look at the course we still had an excellent turnout of 27 players in today’s competition. In 1st. place with 53pt.  were Paudie Butler, Willie Haverty, Tom Kennedy, Tom Hogan. 2nd. with 52pts. George Murray, Sean Lee, Paddy Nolan, Mick Connell, and in 3rd. place with 45pts Jerry Keegan Pat O Connell and Les Mason.

LMC Update;  The table is changing now with Pat O’Connell in 3rd. place, Bertie Keane in 8th. place and Bernie O’Rourke in 6th. Place.  Great to see 3 Templemore Members still in the top 10 position with a competitive field in excess of 145 which creates a fantastic awareness in the golfing ratings that Templemore Golf Club are a very competitive club. Also, it’s an honor to have a Templemore member as President of the LMC Mr. Phil Ryan.  His LMC President Prize date will be on Saturday 5th. October in Templemore which will have in excess of 100 members from various clubs taking part.  We wish Phil all the success with the event.

 

“Cadets Membership” ;   You can join the Cadets anytime from the age of 8 to 15 Boys and Girls and Cadet youths Age 15 to 18 Boys and Girls.   All members who have a junior family member that has an interest in Golf should encourage them to call in on Wed and Friday’s.  If new to the game, clubs will be made available to those that do not have them.  This is an opportunity to build members for the future of the Club.  All training will be in association with CGI (Confederation of Golf Ireland) guidelines and will continue throughout the year.  Do your best to promote this venture.  A special practice range is now in place for the Cadets.  Contact Pat O’ Connell. 087-9205821 Club Juvenile Liaison Officer. Come along if you are interested in playing Golf

 

Cadet Training;  Training will continue, on Saturdays from 1 to 2pm.  Thanks for all the support from parents and volunteers and look forward to continuing throughout the year.

 

 “New Members” Special Rate.  Pay now and your membership will be up to Dec 2020.  There is a “Special Fee” for beginners which is guaranteed not to change for 3 years.  This is very attractive for anyone new interested in joining and for those purchasing vouchers to give a life changing experience to someone.  New members are now been accepted.  All current members are encouraged to introduce at least “ONE NEW MEMBER” Lady or Gent, Junior or Student, Seniors Juveniles and Family, Active Retiree’s, Special Needs or any person interested in taking up the sport.  It will be a huge advantage to building the club membership and profile.

 

A great Welcome back to Lapsed Members; Pay now for membership up to Dec, 2020;  A special rate for “Lapsed Members” will continue throughout the year.  A “welcomed back” once-off, special rate for Gents €200 and Ladies €170.  This is a great opportunity for golfers, Ladies and Gents who want to return to this great social game.
