Club Classic.

Each year the Classic is a great revenue that supports the machinery costs and course upgrades.  Each year the Seniors Club in recognition of the use of the club facilities contribute a substantial monetary to the club, which is always very much appreciated.  This year the presentation was by Vice Captain and Captain of the Seniors to the Club Hon. Secretary Sean Lee.

Week-End Competition.

22 Oct.  On a weekend of fine weather in a stormy week, the course staff worked hard to make play possible the shortened course is reflected in the scores returned in the 9hole Stableford the winner with 28 points is Donal Golden.

 

School Students Golf

19th. Oct.  Borrisoleigh Secondary School Students had a great “Introduction to Golf” day.  Its great to see the schools interested in this great sport event.  We thank all those that volunteered and also staff of the Secondary Scholl for making this a possible event in the future of the school.

 

Seniors Golf.

12th.Oct.  A wonderful day for golf after a couple of rain offs saw 9 teams enjoy the fruits of the maintenance done on the greens and with 50 points the winners were Ollie Murray, Tom Ryan, Mick Cahill and Eoin Wolahan. In Second place on countback with 49 points is Eamon Connolly,  Seanie Gleeson, Jim Casey and James Murray and in Third place also with 49 points George Murray, Mick Murphy, Colm Dooley and Joe Clarke. Well done lads

 

50/50 Draw.

22nd. Oct. The 50/50 draw was won by Donal Hayes who pocketed €100

Seamus Cody Perpetual Cup.

The Seamus Cody Perpetual Cup is coveted by all members in recognition of the loyalty that Seamus Cody displayed over years on the of evolution of the club.  Seamus Cody was Captain in 1977 and President in 2005. (R.I.P. 5th. Jan 2016).  The match play Competition took several weeks to complete principle due to constant inclement weather.  Mick Cary the winner was Captain in 2011.  A deserving winner.  He is a very competitive golfer, also as Seamus he is dedicated to the evolution of the club and always made himself available for course work.   Seamus Cody would be delighted as see Mick Carey’s name on his Perpetual Cup.

Fred Perry National Golf Ireland Competition.

23rd. Sept.  Thanks to Liam Leahy and his Fred Perry team who played exceptional golf, but came up just short of getting a win V Connemara Isles Golf Club. The bounce of the ball did not go our way. In one match the opposition chipped in twice from impossible positions. It is a great achievement to reach the All-Ireland semi-finals and I have no doubt that we will be back. Thanks again for all your time Liam and Team and commitment you gave to the club. Captain Declan Kennedy.  Manager Liam Leahy Appreciation.  Thanks to everyone for their support over this prestigious Golf weekend, calls and messages were very much appreciated, unfortunately on the day we did not get the rub off the greens. 6th.Sept.  Well, the good weather from last week blessed us again today as the Seniors showed their continued support for the club and participated in the Seniors Classic in 1st. place a 3 ball that really shot the lights out with 57 points Ollie Murray, Seanie Gleeson, Rody Cawley. In 2nd. place with 53 points ( on Countback) Eamon Connolly, Tom Ryan, Michael Healy, and Pascal Whelan and finally in 3rd. place also with 53 points Bernie O’Rourke, John Mullally, John Stapleton and James Murray. An appreciated thanks to all.
