 Templemore Golf Club News.

 Captains Prize Week-end.

The weather was magnificent and brought a lot of outdoor activity to the Club House.  The catering provided by the club was excellent for all that played and visited.   The course conditions contributed to some brilliant golf.  There is no doubt that Templemore Golf Club is one of the best 9hole golf courses in the country.  This has been lauded not only by visiting casual players but also by visiting competition teams.  The presentation of the Captains Week winners was presented on the Golf Course amid glorious sunset and very appreciative members, visitors, and families.

 Captain Address.

Captain Dinny Maher thanked all the competitors, numerous people who volunteered in the making of this weekend of golf very successful. He also thanked his reliable, devoted colleague on the course which is appreciate by all members for his skills on the upkeep of the greens, the course and equipment.  Complements were also extended to the Club Competition Secretary Dinny Touhy and his assistant Sean Lee.  He extended a special tribute to his wife MaryAnn and his family for giving him the space to contribute all the time that is required in performing the functions of Club Captain.  Captain Dinny also congratulated Lady Captain Marian Keely on a very successful Lady’s weekend of Golf.  He also presented to the Lady Captain Marian with a special gift from the men.  He then proceeded with the announcement of the winners.  1st. Philip Ryan (Jnr) .  2nd. Padraig Moloney.  3rd. Club President Bertie Keane.

 Competition Secretary address.

Competition Secretary Dinny Touhy congratulated Captain Dinny on his successful weekend of golf and all the competitors.  He especially congratulated Captain Dinny for all his continued hard work on the upkeep of the Course making it one of the best courses in the country that is enjoyed by all the members and visitors.

Fred Daly Boys Competition.

A fantastic performance by all the team in giving their all.   Tipperary town was a highlight drama account of superb golf by Ned Walsh and Eoghan Kelly.  Eoghan had a tremendous game with steady play and bringing the match to the 20th hole for the final decider in favour of Tipperary by one put.   Without doubt “Man of The Match” for steadiness and superb iron play.  A bright future ahead for these boys.  Away.  Eoghan Kelly, Ned Walsh.   Home, Daniel Joyce. Both were cancelled as a mark of respect to Lorcan and Jennifer Reilly on the passing of their son Josh age 6, also to the grandparents Joe and Ellen O’Connor.  May they all find peace in their hearts.

 Captains Golf Week.

This week is bound to be a very competitive week leading up to the President Prize on Sunday 18th. July.  An abundance of members seen on the practice areas and a number of Holes-in-One is an indication of the enthusiasm of the members also in achieving victories in both home and away recent competition will no doubt provide great competitions for the Captains Day. A special message from our Captain Dinny Maher. “A Fantastic week of golf for Templemore golf club. With the club represented in 4 categories and victories in Jimmy Bruen, Fred Perry and Pierce Purcell.  It’s been a hectic week. Congrats to all the players and managers for their huge commitment and best of luck to all in the next rounds.  Looking forward to this week competitions and especially Captains Day.

Captains Appreciation.

A word of thanks to Tony O’ Toole. Frankie Shortt and Michael Purcell, for their work on the course yesterday in preparation for Captain’s week. Also, to Pádraig Moloney for his continued work on maintaining bunkers with the assistance of Sean Lee. And to Chris Doyle and Ml. Webster for their work on clubhouse surrounds. The Covid-19 registers and to Pat O’Connell for his continues vigilance overseeing all activities at the club House.  Thanks to all.

8st. July.  Today’s seniors results where scoring was top class. We had 9 teams taking part this morning. 1st. place with 55pts were Ambrose Purcell, Tony O’Toole, Mick Murphy and Jim Gleeson. In 2nd. place on a count back with 54pts.  In 3rd. place also with 54pts were Donald Golden, John Galvin, Tommy Deegan and Willie Haverty. Thanks to all who took part this morning. (PJ Leahy)

Templemore Golf Club News.

 Another Sweet Victory For Templemore Versus Thurles Golf Club in the “Jimmy Bruen” Shield. On this Sunday 20th.    At 2pm. the competition commenced with 3 teams away and 2 at home.  The weather was very inclement but did not deter the ambition of the Templemore pairings in gaining a sweet victory over Thurles Golf Club.  Templemore won both sets at home and one away in Thurles that went to the 19th hole.  A tremendous victory for Templemore, the team manager Padraig Moloney and his ambitious team, (Home), Philly Ryan, John McGrath, Ciaran Hassett and Keith Morris.  (Away in Thurles), Tommy Murphy, Conor Sheedy. Declan Kennedy, Ger Clifford, Timmy Tuohy & Shane Russell.  A special congratulations to all.

Seniors Golf;

1st. July.  On a lovely sunny day on the golf course spirits were high and the 7 teams headed off to play the back nine for a change and in first place with 57 points,  Donal Golden, Les Mason, Tom Hogan and Tommy Deegan

In Second place with 55 points were, Paddy Fogarty, Eddie Butler, Jim Gleason and John Browne, And in Third place with 54 points, Gerry Keegan, Pat Maher, Phil Ryan and Seamus Ryan.  Well done for a great turn out and thanks to for supporting us on the front desk.  Congratulations to our teams Sweet Victory over Thurles in the Jimmy Bruin Shield.
