Ladies Getting Into Golf Programme.

22nd. April was the 3rd round of “Getting Into Golf” programme.  A phenomenal turn out of over 70 ladies who never played this wonderful game before.  The programme covers a wide range of required skills to play the game comfortable.  Also included are golf technical instructions from a local golf Pro Shane Ryan.  The programme will continue every Saturday morning from 10am to 12 noon up to June 10th.   If anyone wants to join the programme contact Ladies Captain Mary Gilmartin. 087-7992355.

 

Flogas, Irish Mixed Foursomes.

21st. April.  Thanks to the Mixed Foursomes Team, who tried so gallantly and who were narrowly defeated by Dundrum.  Best of luck to all the Dundrum team and every success to them on the competition. – Captain’s Declan Kennedy & Mary Gilmartin, Vice Captain Les Mason. GOI Competition.

23rd. April.  Our first Golfer of the year competition was played on a changeable weekend of weather and in 1st. place with 38 points was Trevor Quinn and in 2nd. place on countback with 37 points was Pat O’Connell and in 3rd. place also with 37 points was Ciaran Hassett.

 

Seniors.

20th.April.  Well on a bright but cool Friday with the course in great condition the seniors ventured out and all the 6 teams were close on scoring.  In first with 54 points on count-back were Ted Kennedy, Seanie Gleeson, Les Mason and James Murray.  2nd. place also with 54 points were Michael Purcell, Jim Casey and Christy O’Rourke.  3rd. place with 52 points were Jim Gleeson, Pat O’Connell and Tom Hogan.  Well done all.

Ladies Getting Into Golf Programme.

1st April was the start of a 6 month “Getting Into Golf” programme.  Sat 1st and Sat 15th experienced a tremendous response from Ladies who never played this wonderful game before.  The Collage of photos express the extreme interest that Ladies have in getting into golf as a recreation and exercise event.  The programme covers a wide range of required skills to play the game comfortable.  Also included are golf technical instructions from a local golf Pro Shane Ryan.  The programme will continue every Saturday morning from 10am to 12 noon up to June 10th.   If anyone wants to join the programme contact Ladies Captain Mary Gilmartin. 087-7992355.

13th.April.  After a delayed start where the course team worked miracles to get us out the weather then smiled on us leading to good scoring so in first place with 54 points were John Kirwan, Pat O’Connell and Jim Casey. In Second place with 51 points were Bernie O’Rourke, Mick Murphy, Les Mason and Michael Healy and in Third place with 50 points Sean Cashman, Tony O’Toole and Colm Dooley. Next week’s Seniors will be on Wednesday as there are a number of the seniors who will be playing in Portarlington on Thursday.

OPW Lease Signed

Historical New Chapter for Templemore Golf Club.
On 21st July 2022 the Club Directors Pat and Tom and Club Solicitor Joe Kelly signed a 21year lease with the OPW.
This now means that the Club has its own “Autonomy”. ⛳

“Golf is for everyone”

Congratulations to Lady Captain Mary Gilmartin and all the ladies committee for organising today’s “Get Into Golf” programme for the ladies. The event was attended by Sam Power, Golf Ireland Munster Development Officer. It was a wonderful success. A brilliant turnout of nearly 50 new ladies who are now enrolled in the program. It was a historical response by the turnout and organisation of the event.  Sam Smith from Golf Ireland was very impressed and noted that Templemore was the 1st club in Munster to activate the Ladies Get into Golf programme,  and its success will set a standard for other clubs in Munster.  We also had some new gents joining on the same day. It’s great to see the Club moving in such a vibrant positive direction.  The next stage of the programme will be on Sat. April 15th.
