30/8.  I want to thank all who took part in this weekend’s competition and the other events last week, Senior Ladies, Social Mixed, Senior Men’s.   These events and in particularly the President’s Prize don’t just happen, it takes a hardworking team of volunteers behind the scenes to pull it all together. In particular circumstances I am extremely grateful to Lady Captain Michelle Hassett, Captain John Greed, Vice Captain, Declan Russell, Les Mason, Pat O’Connell, Marian Keely and Kay Brennan just to mention some, who helped out in various ways to ensure the smooth running of the competition and presentations.  Thanks as always to Pat O’Connell for the excellent condition of the course.  I congratulate Jerry Keegan Snr. on claiming the top honours.  Congratulations to all the other prize winners on their results. Diageo  Result.

6/8. Congratulations to our Diageo Mixed team. Timmy Touhy, Travor Quinn, Declan Kennedy, Dinny Maher, Padraig Moloney, Seamus Bourke, Kathleen Maher, Helen Hayes, Shauna Geary, Lorraine Ryan, Claire Fitzpatrick,  Niamh Connolly, claiming a super victory over Tipperary Town in Roscrea semi final today. A wonderful team performance and a credit to the club. We wish them the very best of luck in the Diageo final against Tullamore on September 20th.

 

Revive Active.
Sat 5th.  Congratulations to our Revive Active Ladies team on their excellent victory over Lismore on Saturday. After a hugely competitive and closely fought contest, with three matches at home and two away, the Templemore ladies edged through to secure their place in the semi-final. Well done to all involved, and best of luck in the next round.

 

McHugh cups.

12/9. The following are 12 Ladies and 12 men that qualified from the Presidents Prize for the McHugh cups four ball match play. It is proposed to run the McHugh four ball match play over 11holes, 1-11, Friday 11th and Saturday 12th September. Please indicate if you are available and which day would suit, as the draw will be on Thursday 10th. Men’s Seniors.

3/8.  What a great day as we slip into September and the autumn of the year many of the seniors still had a spring in their step and the usual Thursday was enjoyed by the nine teams that took to the field. The scoring was excellent with eight teams in the 50’s. In top spot on 59 points were Pat Looby, Colm Dooley, Christy O’Rourke and Jimmy Middleton. Then came three teams on 57 the best of these on countback were Brendan Russell, Pat O’Connell, John Egan and Seamus Ryan and on 57 in Third place on Countback were Bernie O’Rourke, Mick Carey and Tom Hogan.  Well played all. Next week’s Seniors will be on Wednesday 9th. as a number of our regulars are out with the LMC in Portumna on Thursday .  Best of luck to all.

 

Bereavement.

31/8. The club extends sincere sympathies to Club president Sean & Anna Cashman on the passing of Sean’s sister Eilis Cashman of Carrigtwohill, Cork on 31st. Aug.  May her gentle soul rest in peace.

32/8.  Well what a “one club” we are and no better displayed by the fantastic turnout 105 members for Sean Cashman’s President Prize this past weekend, the weather was mixed, it did not deter the players, and the scoring was exceptional.
The Winner with a fantastic 45 points was Jerry Keegan Snr.   Best placed Lady was Frances Stapleton with 40points. The second placed man was Denis Ryan with 41points on Countback. 3rd place Lady was Mary Hayes-Kenny with 37points, on Countback 3rd Place man was Joe Fahey with 41points, on countback 4th place Lady, Lorraine Ryan 37 points, on countback 4th place Man and Past President Seanie Gleeson with 41 points. 5th place Lady and Past President Mary Hogan 37 points, 5th place man Declan Russell 40 pts. on countback 6th place Lady, Sheila Delaney 36 points and 6th place man Timmy Tuohy 40 points, 7th place Lady, Evelyn Lyons wit 35 points and 7th place man, Joe Shelly with 39 points.  Well played all.

26/8.  President Sean Cashman, Lady Captain Michelle Hassett Club Captain John Greed, on behalf of all club members, presented a lifetime honour scroll to Breda Murphy 90 years young.  Breda is one of the club’s most dedicated and valued members. She plays a vital role in organising the ladies senior golf, regularly featuring among the prize winners. Her contribution extends well beyond the fairways. Every Wednesday evening, Breda is at the heart of the hugely successful Social Mixed, taking entries and correcting scores.  Having been a member of Templemore Golf Club for an incredible 51 years, Breda’s commitment, enthusiasm and service to the club are truly remarkable. Much loved and highly respected by fellow members, she remains an integral part of club life and is, in every sense, one in a million. Thank you, Breda, from all club members.

31/8.  Our powerful ladies have secured a victory over East Cork on their home ground today.

This result is a true reflection of how talented our ladies are.

Men’s Seniors.

27/8.  On a day when the rain returned to the Emerald Isle and it mainly fell on our intrepid nine teams of Seniors. They may have been damp but their spirits burnt bright and there was some good scoring and good Craic for tea and cake after. 1st. Team, place on countback with 56 points were Eamonn Connolly, Paddy Bambrick, Michael Healy and Seamus Ryan. 2nd. Team also on 56points, Marty Ryan, Tommy Foley, Jim Gilmartin and Eoin Wolahan. 3rd Team, with 54 points Donal Golden, Pat O’Connell and Jim Casey, well played all.
