Diageo Mixed;  Seamus Bourke Diageo team will meet Mount Temple on Saturday 29th. July. Fred Perry Trophy;  Seanie Gleeson and his team will be in action on Monday 1st. July at 4pm in Templemore -V- Dungarvin, Round 3 of the “Fred Perry Trophy 2019”, Seniors Inter-Club Fourball;  All available support will be appreciated.

Captains Prize Week, July;   The week will commence with the Vice-Captain Prize S/F on Saturday 6th. and Sunday 7th.  Ladies preliminary round on Tuesday 9th.  Social Mix and Vice-Captain Prize Presentation on Wednesday 10th.  Seniors on Thursday 11th. Men’s Captain (Stroke Play) preliminary round on Friday 12th.  Men’s semi-final and Ladies Final on Saturday 13th. Men’s Captain final on Sunday 14th.  There will be joint presentations in the Club Lounge Sunday evening.  A great week of golf activity to be enjoyed by all.

“Cadet” Section;   Special practice range is now in place for the Cadets.  Enrollment is now in full swing for Boys and Girls from 9 to 15 years also for youths from 15 to 18.  Enrollment forms are in all locations in the club house.  All current members should promote this great initiative. Templemore Golf Club News;    

 

Irish Mixed Foursomes;  Templemore Team and Manager Seamus Bourke played a very competitive match -V- Thurles in Dundrum. The weather was excellent to start with right up to the last paining on the 18th. hole.  Unfortunately, luck was not with the team as the final pair, Lady Captain Lorraine Ryan and Declan Russell played in torrential rain only to be beaten by one stroke.  Team Pairings; Team Manager Seamus Bourke and Shelia Delaney, Timmy Touhy and Mary Ann Maher, Joe O’Connor and Josie Bourke, Dinny Maher and Sadie Tynan, Declan Russell and Lady Captain Lorraine Ryan.   Complements to all the team for a positive and determined effort.

The Seniors express sincere condolences to John Galvin on the death of his brother Ambrose.  Reminder; The next away outing will be on  Monday 15th. July in Rathdowney.

Solas;  Templemore Golf Club has a special visit on Wed, 12th. from “Solas” a special class for children on the Autistic Spectrum based in Loughmore NS.  They were hosted by Martin Bohan and friends who entertained the students which was acknowledged with appreciation of the good time they had and the effort afforded to them by Martin and his team.

Templemore Golf Club News;    

 

Another Great Victory for Templemore;  Central Towns Trophy, 2nd Round.  Home Team Mick Keely, Padraig Moloney.  Away team, Joe O’Connor, Tom McGrath, Dinny Maher, Team Manager, Liam Leahy overwhelm beat Castle Barna who won the event in 2011, also Templemore beat in the 1st. Round, Portumna who won the event 5 Times, last time in 2018.  3rd. round date TBC.  The Central Towns Trophy was inaugurated by Tullamore Golf Club in 1965. It’s a hugely popular competition.  The format is five singles match-play off scratch for 13 handicap and upwards on a home and away basis. Congratulations to the Templemore Team and may their success continue with the next rounds.

 

Ladies Golf;  Another Great Victory for Templemore.  The Templemore Boyne ladies team had a tremendous victory Sunday 9th.  -V- Mount Wolsely. This completes the 2nd round and the 3rd. round will be in early July .  The BOYNE TROPHY competition was the brainchild of our esteemed member Gretta Foran in 1994, designed to cater for the “over 50’s” ladies it has progressed to be one of the most fiercely contested competitions in the midlands and surrounding areas.  Teams consist of five pairs of ladies who compete under fourball match play rules.  Round 3, The semi-final and final days are hosted by Edenderry Golf Club.  Congratulations to all the Templemore Ladies and may their success continue with the next rounds.

Seniors Donation;  A special thanks to all the Templemore Golf Club Seniors for their substantial donation to the club towards the recent purchase of new equipment.  The Seniors are an integral part of Templemore Golf Club.  The Seniors were initiated by Philip Ryan in 2012 and supported by Pat Costello and Rody Cawley. The competition formula was mentored by Rody Cawley which is still in use and standing the test of time and contributes to a friendly inclusive game of golf. The Social aspect, the banter, sharing of stories, presentation of prizes, the cup of tea and sandwich are all vital parts to a very enjoyable day of golf.  The seniors are held every Thursday at 10am. For a 9holes scramble which only cost €5 for the day plus an annual fee of €5.  The seniors also arrange 4/5 outings a year to renowned 18h Golf Club at special affordable rates.  All surplus funds are passed onto the Club towards the development and maintenance of the course.  Several contributions were made to the club since 2012. The seniors are very conscious of the gift of having such an open and friendly Golf Club that appreciates its senior members.  New seniors over 55 are always welcome and especially from other clubs and freelance members.  Current Committee are; Chairman, PJ Leahy, Secretary, Pat O’Connell, Treasurer, Philip Ryan. Fred Perry Trophy;  Another great victory by Seanie Gleeson in the Fred Perry Trophy;  Round 2, on Tuesday 28 -V- Ballykisteen.  Well done to all the team.  Another proud victory for the club..

 

Saturdays & Sundays Week End Competition;  The 18hole Stableford on Saturdays and Sundays is now in full motion.  The course is in excellent condition, so great scores are expected.   Link up with other available players by using the Club “WhatsApp”

“Cadet” Section;   Enrollment is now in full swing for Boys and Girls under 15 years also for youths from 15 to 18.  Enrollment forms are in all locations in the club house.  All current members should promote this great initiative.Ladies and Gents who want to be involved in this great project for the future of the club will have to complete a “Vetting Form” it would be fantastic if, as many as possible would support the development of the Cadet sector in our club under the guidance of CGI, (Confederation of Golf Ireland).  Completed form can be placed in the “FEE” box in the locker room or contact Pat O’ Connell. 087-9205821 Club Juvenile Liaison Officer.

The Seniors Golf;   Seniors Away Outing;  The Seniors outing was on Thursday May 30.  in Roscrea.  Which included Golf, Meal. A fantastic day away for senior golfers. The winners were.   1st.. LMC, Seniors Alliance Golf Society, Congratulations to Mick Keely who achieved the coveted overall 1st. Prize with 39pts. at Esker Hills Golf Club on Tuesday 21st.  May.  Also to Liam Daly who secured 3rd place in Class 3.  Another proud day for Templemore Golf Club.  Well done to both.
