Templemore’s Mixed Foursomes March On. Pride, Passion and Promise.

16/6. There are victories that bring joy, and then there are victories that ignite pride deep within a club and Templemore Golf Club’s triumph in the Quarter Final of the Irish Mixed Foursomes on June 19th firmly belongs in the latter.  Against our near neighbours Thurles, Templemore produced a performance rich in composure, teamwork and sheer determination. On a day when every shot mattered, the panel rose to the occasion with a unity of purpose that reflects everything that is best about club golf.  The team of Martin Gleeson, Mary Hayes, Josie Bourke, Claire Fitzpatrick, Lady Captain Michelle Hassett, Men’s Captain John Greed, along with Lorraine Ryan, Declan Kennedy, Ciaran Hassett and Seamus Bourke, carried the hopes of the club with distinction. Each pairing played their part, combining skill and resilience under pressure, but above all demonstrating a collective spirit that proved decisive.  This was more than just a win, it was a statement of belief. From the opening tee to the final putt, Templemore showed the character required at this level of competition: calm under pressure, supportive of each other, and unwavering in their determination to succeed.  Special praise must go to the leadership shown by both captains, Michelle Hassett and John Greed, whose encouragement and guidance have clearly helped galvanise this team. Their influence, along with the commitment of every player involved, has helped create a panel capable not only of competing, but thriving on the big stage.  As Templemore now looks ahead to a Munster Semi Final, there is a real sense that this journey is only beginning. The challenge will intensify, but so too will the resolve of a team that has already shown it belongs among the very best.  The entire club can take immense pride in this achievement. Days like these inspire younger members, strengthen community bonds, and remind us all why golf at club level holds such a special place in Irish sporting life.  The message now is simple: keep believing, keep battling, and keep representing Templemore with the same pride and passion. The road ahead is demanding, but this team has already proven it has the heart and hunger to go even further.  Well done to all involved. Templemore stands firmly behind you as the Munster Semi Final awaits.

Weekend Competition Corner.

7/6Weekend 18-Hole Stroke Play Competition.  The weather was far from kind over the weekend and, combined with the Junior Cup fixture and the club’s victory celebrations, contributed to a smaller-than-usual turnout for the 18-hole Stroke Play competition.  Blustery winds and frequent squally showers made conditions extremely challenging, testing even the most experienced golfers. As a result, many competitors found scoring difficult and returned higher scores than they would have hoped for. Despite the adverse weather, several players produced commendable performances.  Leading the way was Denis Ryan, who claimed first place with an excellent nett score of 72. Eamonn McGrath secured second place on a nett 74, while Jody Boyle took third spot with a nett 75 after a determined round in difficult conditions.  Congratulations to all the prize winners and to everyone who braved the elements to compete. With hopefully more settled weather on the horizon, we look forward to seeing larger fields return in the coming weeks to enjoy our course at its best.

Representing your club in a nationwide competition is a special honour, and each of you did so with great pride, sportsmanship, and distinction.  A sincere word of appreciation goes to the entire team for wearing the club colours with such pride and for being outstanding ambassadors for the club both at home and away. Your dedication, teamwork, and enthusiasm reflect the very best of our club and are a source of great pride for all members.  We wish the team every success in the next round and look forward to following your continued progress in this highly competitive national event.  Well done, ladies, and thank you for representing the club so magnificently on the provincial and national stage.
