President’s Prize: Pat Maher wins by a distance

The decision of our President’s John Stapleton and Kay Brennan to hold their respective competition’s over the one weekend proves that thinking outside the box yields unexpected outcomes. The Friday and Saturday staging resulted in a flurry of activity in the Clubhouse and the well attended function on Saturday night in the Templemore Arms for the presentation of prizes was testament to the enjoyment of all involved.

After two days golf in trying conditions Pat Maher emerged as a worthy winner with 46 pts needless to say with a card with few blemishes. He was the winner by a distance as they say in racing parlance from a chasing pack all on 40 pts who filled the minor places, Padraigh Moloney, Denis Tuohy, Jody Boyle and Jerry Keegan.Scoring over the two days was good in the wild conditions with CSS 71 for both days and 26 players equaled or broke SS.
