Templemore Golf Club News; 

 

Templemore victorious at GUI Inaugural Fred Perry Munster Trophy;  A fantastic victory for Templemore Golf Club -V- East Cork at the Cork Golf Club (Little Island) Sunday 8th. Sept.  It was a very decisive win by Templemore over a very prestigious club.  Templemore team played with great determination and resulted in the winning of the inaugural GUI “Fred Perry Trophy”.  Templemore are the first Munster team to win this GUI trophy.  The Trophy was presented to the Team Captain Seanie Gleeson and the Pennant for the club was presented to Club Captain Tony O’Toole by Jim Long, Munster GUI Chairman.  The individual achievement of the day was an Eagle scored by Seamus Bourke on the 11th. hole which was only achieved before by Seve Ballesteros, there is a monument at this hole to Seve achievement. This achievement displays the high standard of competitive golf by Templemore Golfers.  The team pairings were;  Seamus Bourke-Liam Daly, Joe Fahy-Ambrose Purcell, Tom McGrath-Bertie Keane, Joe O’Connor-Mattie Bourke, Denis Maher-Padraig Moloney, Subs, Denis Touhy, Michael Purcell, John Hassett, Tom Kenny.  Match wins;  Seamus Bourke and Liam Daly won the first match for Templemore, closing out their match on the 16th.  Tom McGrath and Bertie Keane won 4&3. Templemore’s final pairing Denis Maher and Padraig Moloney put the pressure on and won on the 15th green.  enough to secure the final GUI Munster Pennant of 2019 for Templemore.  The next round is the National Finals in Rosses Point Golf Club, Co. Sligo on Thursday 26th. and Friday 27th. Sept. Templemore-V- Woodenbridge, in the Semi Final.  Strabane-V- Gort.  Best of Luck to all the Templemore Team.

Fundraising Club Classic;  The Club Fundraising Classic will commence on Wed. Sept.11th. to Sunday Sept. 15th.  €100 per team of 4.  All clubs in the region will be more than welcome, and also all organising that want to field a team for this great cause in providing more equipment for this great amenity in Templemore to secure its future for the up and coming “Cadets” so that they will have the best facilities for furthering their careers in this great game of Golf  possible

 

3Ts Golf;  This is the 17th. year of the popular 3Ts. Golf Tournament.  This competition is an awareness campaign to highlight the issues of suicide in Ireland. Provincial round is in Dundrum on Tuesday 10th.  Templemore Tee time is 10.10 am.  The winning team will proceed to the tournament All -Ireland Final at the K Club Ryder Cup Course on 14th. Oct.. Representing Templemore are; Captain Tony O’Toole, Club Secretary Pat O’Connell, Ladies, Ann O’Rourke and Mary Hayes.

 

Diageo Mixed V Thurles; Templemore on the road to victory again on Fri 13th Sept. in Roscrea at 3.30pm. Match V Thurles.  Best of Luck to all the team.

 

All Ireland Captains;  The “All Ireland Captains” Representing the club will be Club Captains Prize winners, Eoin Fitzpatrick and Sadie Tynann in Roscrea Golf Club.   Sadie Tynann competition will be on the 17th. Sept and Eoin Fitzpatrick will be on Sat. 21st. Sept.. Last year representatives were, Pat Looby and Bernie Fitzpatrick.  Pat succeeded on winning the event and enjoyed a Golf Holiday in the Algarve.  Best of luck to both.

Seniors Golf;   Results of Thursday morning 5th. Oct.  senior competition. 1st. with 52pts. Jerry Keegan, Philip Ryan, Pat Maher, Mick Connell.  2nd. with 50pts. John Galvin, Tom Hogan, John Mullally, Tony O’TOOLE.  3rd. with 46pts. Paudie Butler, Ollie Murray, and Pat O Connell.   A reminder to our Senior members to have your names with Philip Ryan early this coming week for

Club classic starting next Thursday. No senior competition that day. However, if you wish to take part in the golf classic on that day please contact Philip Ryan 087 0668060 for further information.

 

“Cadets Membership” ;   You can join the Cadets anytime from the age of 8 to 15 Boys and Girls and Cadet youths Age 15 to 18 Boys and Girls.   All members who have a junior family member that has an interest in Golf should encourage them to call in on Wed and Friday’s.  If new to the game, clubs will be made available to those that do not have them.  This is an opportunity to build members for the future of the Club.  All training will be in association with CGI (Confederation of Golf Ireland) guidelines and will continue throughout the year.  Do your best to promote this venture.  A special practice range is now in place for the Cadets.  Contact Pat O’ Connell. 087-9205821 Club Juvenile Liaison Officer. Come along if you are interested in playing Golf

 

Cadet Training;  Training will continue, on Saturdays only at 1 o’clock to facilitate other sport activities times.  Thanks for all the support from parents and volunteers and look forward to continuing throughout the year.

 

Last Social Mix; A great turn out of Ladies and Gents for the last Social Mix 2019.  It was great to see some of the Cadet Youths taking part. Great tribute to all the ladies and especially to Josie Moloney by the Club Captain Tony O’Toole.  It was a great success for 2019 and look forward to 2020.  The winners for Wed.4th. were; 1st. Team, Seamus Bourke, Pat O’Connell, Mary Ryan.  2nd Team; Paul Tuohy, Declan Russell, Ann O’Rourke.

 

Ladies;  last Sunday 1st. Sept.  The Ladies won 1st. round of Tipperary League and next round Sunday 15th. September at 2.30pm.  Templemore-v-Dundrum in Tipperary town.

Team were; Ann O’Rourke / Mary Hogan.  Mary Hayes / Mary Gilmartin.  Niamh Connolly / Mary Fitzpatrick .

 

LMC Update;  Great to see 2 Templemore Members in the top 10 position;  Bernie O’ Rourke in 2nd. place, and Bertie Keane in 8th. Place with a field in excess of 150.  Phil Ryan (Templemore) President Prize date has been changed to Saturday 5th. October in Templemore.

 

“New Members” Special Rate.  Pay now and your membership will be up to Dec 2020.  There is a “Special Fee” for beginners which is guaranteed not to change for 3 years.  This is very attractive for anyone new interested in joining and for those purchasing vouchers to give a life changing experience to someone.  New members are now been accepted.  All current members are encouraged to introduce at least “ONE NEW MEMBER” Lady or Gent, Junior or Student, Seniors Juveniles and Family, Active Retiree’s, Special Needs or any person interested in taking up the sport.  It will be a huge advantage to building the club membership and profile.
