Templemore Golf Club Notes;

 

Templemore Golf Club Fund Raising Classic Saturday 2nd. Sept.    It was an amazing success from all club members showing their support by entering as many teams as possible which made this Classic a great success.  The presentation night was in Murphy’s Pub and it was also a delight to see so many turned up to share their delight of this event and the winners.  The night was hosted by Club Captain Martin Bohan who expressed his delight in the response from all the club members and sponsors and paid a special tribute to all the sponsors that without their support these events would not be possible and expressed that all members should appreciate this and return the favour in business to them.  The Club Competition Secretary Liam Leahy officiated the winners and paid a special tribute to John Alexandra for his expert work ethic on the course and also a special mention of appreciation to all the volunteers who gave their own time to making this Golf Course a special place to play the great game of Golf.  A special thanks to our main sponsor, Centenary Thurles Co.Op. and also to all our sponsors, Trump Dunbeg, Templemore Arms, John Mullally Mensware, Bourke’s Filling Station Costcutter, Michael and Catherine Ryan Corner Shop, Peter’s Fruit and Veg, Murphys Bar and Restaurant, Pat Stakelum Mensware Thurles.

Fund Raising; There will be future series of fundraising projects coming up as subs alone will not be sufficient to expand on the requirement that will give you the members, a first class Golf Course.  This is your golf course, be proud of it, and supportive of it, in whatever way you can by raising sponsorship, donations or helping out on the volunteer team.  Donations can be made online on our web site www.templemoregolfclub.ie

 

Men’s Singles Match play Quarter Finals;  All is progressing well and the quarter finals are to be completed by September 18th.   The scoring is high with some great golf played due to the excellent condition of the course.  The current match play-offs are as follows. A; Jerry Keegan jnr. V Jim Russell, V B; Bernie O’Rourke V Sean Lee.    C; Conor Sheedy V (Tom McGrath V Eoin Bourke)  V D; (Seamus Bourke V Tim Tuohy) V Hugh Scott.  It’s important that these players contact each other to finalize their play-offs as soon as possible.

 

Juvenile Golf;   Juveniles who finished their summer coaching is recommended to continue playing to demonstrate their new found professional Golf Skills as It is intended to continue with similar coaching / competitions in October.  Any Juveniles who do not have their own Golf Clubs and want to continue or to take up this great Game can contact; Pat O’Connell 087-9205821 and he will organise a kit for them from the Templemore Lions Club “ Golf Clubs Wanted” project.  This is a great support project between “Templemore Golf Club” and “Templemore Lions Club” to help juveniles continue with this great game.

 

Time Sheets;   “Don’t be without your Sunday game! “  Place your name on the Sunday time-sheet so that you can link up with other players.

 

Web Site;  If you have any memorabilia Golf photos that you want achieved on the web site which will also be featured on the “Templemore Golf Club Facebook”.   So that they can shared with your friends.  This is great platform opportunity to record all events both current and past in Ladies and Gents Golf.  It’s Important to record any historical events, competition results, Member photos of past activities of the Club.  This is an important opportunity to promote the Club as a Vibrant and Active Club for almost 40 years via the web and Facebook.  Contact; Tony 0868209991.

 

Athlone Golf Day;  On wed. 30th. Aug.  A Golf Outing Day was arranged in Athlone Golf Club for Templemore Golf Club by John Stapleton.  A great number turned up for this event and it was a fantastic scenic day with glorious sunshine followed by a fantastic meal and great banter.  Congratulation to John for his efforts on organising this great social event for the Templemore Golf Club.

Golfer of the Year;  Important!  All members should compete in all competitions throughout the year.  This will Increase your “Golfer of the Year” points.

 

Away Scoring Recording Form;  Important!  All away scores are to be recorded on the “Away Record Form” on the notice board, for Non Qualifying,  Society,  Fourball and Team Events.  All members are requested to respect this request so that a better accuracy can be applied to the formation of handicaps.

Calling all Golfers and Seniors that want to take up this great game:   All it takes in Templemore is 2 hours of your time to complete this very competitive 9 hole course.  You can call in anytime at your convenience (No Time Sheet Necessary) and get a game and be assured that you will be more than welcome.  If you do not have Clubs and want to get started contact any golf club member and you will get a start-up kit and you will be more than welcome

Volunteers;  If you want an physical exercise hobby become a golf club volunteer.  You will always be more than welcome in helping with the presentation of the course.  Just check in with the course Volunteer organiser, John Stapleton 086-0894718 to offer any skills that will make improvements i.e. Grass Cutting, Bunker Raking, Strimming of all edges, Drains, Pat-ways and Bunkers, Carpentry, Maintenance or others, or just turn up at your own convenience.  All will be appreciated.

 

Seniors Report and Results;  There was no Seniors on Thursday 31st. due to the tidy up for the Club Classic on the 2nd.  Sept.  A very much appreciation was expressed by The Club Captain Martin Bohan on the Classic presentation night to all Seniors that helped in making the course as presentable as possible.

 

New Seniors Members;  If you are a Senior Golfers or visiting Golfer 55+ or anyone in retirement that want a social sport activity are more than welcome to enjoy an excellent social opportunity to play this great game with like-minded golfers.  Just turn up on Thursday mornings at 10am.  Or contact; John Stapleton @ 086-0894718

LMC Winners;   Watch this Space   “Golfer of The Year Update”  placings with only 4 more Outings;  1st. place; Liam Daly, 294 pts.  4th. Place;  Mick Carey, 271 pts.  6th.  place;  Mick Keely, 268 pts.  pre Thurles outing on Monday 28th.  It’s great to see 3 of our own members competing in the top 10 of this event.
