Templemore Golf Club News;

“Templemore won the Buster Fundraising Dog Race Night”  Clare Collins daughter of George and Olivia Collins from Roscrea Road Templemore was the outright winner of the “Buster Dog Race” promoted by Templemore Golf Club in association with Borrisoleigh Coursing Club at the Thurles Stadium on Saturday night 18th. November.  The total prizemoney was €500. There was a great attendance by both Ladies and Gents from Templemore Golf Club which made the night a very special social night out for the club.  There was great banter and crack but the bookies had nothing to fear.   Definitely, an event that will be repeated.  The race No.10, finish results were; 1,5,4,6,2,3.

Templemore Golf Club Captain Martin Bohan thanked all involved in the process of making this a great fundraising event and especially the support from the public in the purchase of the tickets and also to the Borrisoleigh Coursing Club for their participation and a special congratulation to the winner Clare Collins.

 

Men’s Singles Match play; The Semi-final was completed on Sat. 18th. Nov. between Conor Sheedy  and Seamus Bourke.  The weather was very overcast and misty but both braved the elements and battled the course with great long drives and finally Seamus Bourke won the event on the 16th. hole.  Well done to both.   Now to the final stage; Jerry Keegan jnr. V Seamus Bourke.  It would be great to see an exciting drama finish to this great event soon.  Best of luck to both Seamus and Jerry.

 

AGM.  The AGM for the Men’s Club will take place on Monday the 11th. December at 8pm. in the Club House Lounge.  All nominations for the (5) Officers and (3) Committee positions and motions to the AGM must be lodged with the Honorary Secretary by 5pm. on Wed. 29th. November. 2017. The Agenda and the Nomination form are available in the Locker Room.

It is important that all members attend the AGM to show solidarity and enthusiasm in the future of this wonderful club which is you the members club and let your voice be heard.  “Please attend”.

 

Fixtures; 

11 hole Stableford “XMass Fare” will continue on a weekly basis including Saturdays and Sundays up to Xmass.  Holes 1 to 11.  Entry will be €3 and re-entry  €2.  “Play as often as you like”.  See the competition book in the locker room for weekly course details.

Ladies Golf;  9 hole XMass fare. Tuesday 14th. until Monday 20th.  Results in the next issue.

Men’s Prize to Ladies will be on Sat. Nov 25th. Draw at 11am.

Ladies AGM will be on Dec 13th. in Murphy’s, all Lady members are requested to support by attending this meeting.

 

Seniors Report and Results;

Thursday 16th. Nov.  1st Team; Frankie Shortt, Mick Carey, Jim Gleeson.  2nd Team;  John Hassett, Mick Connell, Ray Meagher, John Mullaly.  3rd. Team; (on a count back)  Eddie Butler, Tom Hogan, Liam Daly, PJ Leahy.

 

Social Golf Outing;  Esker Hills, Tullamore on Monday 13th.  was a great day with almost 50 turned up for the event . Great credit to the Seniors committee and to John Stapleton for organising this successful event.  The results were as follows;  1st Team; Tom McGrath, Liam Leahy, Mick Carey, Tom Kennedy with a total of 107pts.  2nd Team; Frankie McGrath, Donal Golden, Ger Corrigan, Tommy Foley with a total of 101pts.  3rd. Team; Seamus Bourke, John Galvin, Seanie Gleeson with a total of 98pts. Spot prize went to 1st. Gerry O’Dwyer, 2nd to our President Tony O’Toole.  Complements were expressed to Esker Hills Golf Club by John Stapleton on the wonderful hospitality offered by Esker Hills.  (we’ll be back)

 

Winter Clean up;  Complements to all the volunteers who helped with the clean-up caused by both storms Ophelia and Brian.  Bunkers now need to be cleaned and the winter look taken off them by raking and weeding.  Also other work is required.  Contact John Stapleton 086-0894718 for times.

 

Bunkers;  All volunteers that have “Adopted a Bunker” are also requested to attend to their bunker for a clean-up caused by debris from both storms and winter rain.
