Templemore Golf Club News

The last week was a fantastic victory week for the club with two great first matches wins in Inter Club Competitions under the new Golf Ireland Rules the Fred Perry and the Jimmy Bruin.

Both Matches were home and away.  The Fred perry match was played on Wed. 23^rd.  versus Tipperary Town.  3 at home and 2 away.  Both matches were very competitive with the away team narrowly defeated on the last 18^th. Hole and the home team having a unanimous victory with all 3 teams winning.  Congratulations to the team Manager Dinny Touhy the team and Denis Maher, Padraig Moloney, Tom McGrath, Liam Daly, Mick Keely, Ted Kennedy,  Bertie Keane, Ambross Purcell, Joe O’Connor, Declan Russell.  Congratulations to all

The second inaugural competition was the Jimmy Bruin, played on Thursday 24^th. Another victorious account by Templemore versus Slievenamon with a win on all three matches away, one at home and halved the last match.  Congratulations to the Team Manager Padraig Moloney and the the victorious team, Philly Ryan, John McGrath, Ciaran Hassett, Keith Morris, Tommy Murphy, Declan Russell, Declan Kennedy, Ger Clifford, Timmy Tuohy, Shane Russell. A fantastic victory by both teams and a proud week for Templemore Golf Club.

Seniors Golf;

24^th. June.  The place to be this morning was with the Seniors where it all happened. Great scoring with the winners on 57pts. and four other teams on 54pts. We also had a Hole-in-One from our seniors treasurer Les Mason. Not to be out done our Sec Pat O’Connell won the 50/50 last weekend. I must have fallen off the Bus. Back to golf results, this mornings seniors, in first place with 57pts. were Gerry Keegan, George Collins, Mick Connell, and Paddy Nolan. In 2^nd. place on a count back with 54pts. were Ambrose Purcell, John Galvin, Christy O’ROURKE, Tommy Deegan, in 3^rd.place also with 54pts. were Donal Golden, Pat Maher Mick Murphy, and Seamus Ryan. I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate our teams victory over Tipp Town and Slievenamon last week.

17^th. June.  With a number of our outing senior members in action in Tipp Town this afternoon and we wish them all the best. It was great to see a good turnout of 8 teams taking part this morning with some excellent scoring.  Winners.   1^st. Team  Donald Golden, Paddy Nolan, Pat O’Connell, and Tony O’Toole with 56pt..   2^nd. team with 55pt were Paudi Butler, Seamus Ryan, and Pat Maher. 3rd place with 52pts. were John Kirwan. Tom Hogan, Les Mason, Michael Murphy.

With ten teams taking part in our outing this morning scoring was of a high standard. In first place with 53pts were Joe O Connor Sean Gleeson Mick Connell and Tom Hogan. In 2nd place were Tom McGrath John Fitzpatrick Les Mason and Tommy Deegan and with three teams on 51pts 3rd place on a count back were Tom Kenny Donal Golden Mick Murphy and John Browne.

Due to weather conditions our senior outing this morning has been cancelled.

Another good turnout this morning with ten teams competing and some good scores returned. In first place with 50pts were Bertie Keane Pat O’Connell and John Kirwan 2nd with 49pts were Tom McGrath George Collins and Seamus Ryan and in 3rd place on a count back were Bernie O’ Rourke Pascal Whelan and Tommy Deegan.

With ten teams taking part on a brisk bright morning, scoring was back a bit from last week. The results were as follows, 1st place with 49pts Jerry Keegan Donald Golden and Tony ‘O Toole. 2nd, this is where the fun starts, there were three cards with 44pts. On a count back on the last 6 holes, in second place were Sean Lee Paudie Butler and Les Mason. 3rd went to Liam Daly Pat O’Connell and Frankie Shortt.

29/4/21.

Great turnout this morning with 11 teams taking part and scoring excellent overall. Results were, in first place with 50pts, Joe O’Connor Donald Golden and Tony O’Toole. In second place with 48pts Bertie Keane John Galvin and Philip Ryan. In 3rd place on a count back with 46pts were John Hassett Pat O’Connell and Frank Shortt. See you all next Thursday PG;
