AGM.

A good attendance at the Annual General Meeting of the Men’s Club in the clubhouse on Friday 10^th. of December. 2021 at 7pm.  Outgoing Captain Dinny Maher thanked numerous people and especially the members for their support.  He especially thanked his colleague Jack Alexandra for all his expert knowledge as Green Keeper, machinery maintenance and general course work as Jack will be retiring early 2022.  He then thanked outgoing president Bertie Keane for all his support and especially his competitive skills as a team player. President Bertie thanked all the members for their support and continued support to the club, he then nominated Michael Purcell as his successor. Detailed reports were then presented by Hon Secretary Pat O’Connell. Communications/PRO by Tony O’Toole. Accounts by Tom McGrath. Competitions by Dinny Touhy who also nominated Sean Lee as his successor. Sean was apprentice to the Competition Secretary 2021 also his background as a former international Hand Ball Champion will bring new initiatives to competitions.  Handicap presentation by Jim Ryan created a robust debate on future calculations of handicaps . Captain Dinny Maher then passed over the Club Captaincy to Jim Ryan former handicap secretary who nominated incoming President Michael Purcell with the task of HC Secretary for 2022. Congratulations were expressed to new committee members Les Mason who is active in arranging the Seniors Day and Declan Russell who arranged over the years credible sponsorship. Motions were then unanimously passed.

AGM. REMINDER.

The Annual General Meeting of the Men’s Club will take place in the clubhouse on Friday 10^th. of December. 2021 at 7pm.  All nominations for committee positions and motions to be lodged with Hon. Secretary by 3^rd. of December.  Nomination papers are available in clubhouse.

This weekend’s competition on the 4th and 5th of December: Christmas Fair, 14hole. Christmas hamper for 1st, 2^nd. and 3rd.  1^st. Gerry Keegan 35pts.  2^nd. Keith Morris 33pts. 3^rd. Denis Tuohy 32pts.  Full results on MSB.  Next weekend 11^th. and 12^th. will be the same 14hole competition Xmas fare.

25^th. Nov. 2021.   8 teams took part on a cold and frosty morning slightly later than usual. 1^st. with 50 pts. on a count back, Joe O Connor, Mick Carey, and George Collins. 2^nd. also on 50 pts. Bertie Keane, Bernie O   Rourke, and Jim Casey. 3^rd. on 49 pts. Donal Golden, Pat O Connell, and Seamus Ryan.

2^nd Dec.2021.  8 teams took part with good scoring all round. 1^st. 53 pts. Ger Clifford, Pat O Connell, Ollie Murray, and Jim Casey. 2^nd. 51 pts. on a count back Paddy Bourke, George Murray, and Michael Healy. 3^rd. Donal Golden, John Kirwan, John Egan and Barry Spearman.

Bereavements.

It is with great regret that two former executive members of the club passed away peacefully on Thursday 25^th..Nov. 2021.   Ray Meagher President in 2003 and P.J. Leahy Captain in 2007.   Both made an incalculable contribution to the club over the years.  They were highly respected by all members, with great stories of both.  P.J. Leahy will by especially missed by the Club Seniors, as Chairman, he was dedicated to the functions of the seniors and always made time for each member.  Templemore Golf Club members extend their deepest sympathy to both families and friends. May they rest in peace.

Club, Mark of respect.

The course was closed to 2pm on Sun. 28^th. and Mon. 29^th.  A well-attended guard of honour was provided by the committee and members for both Ray and PJ.  All competitions and the 50/50 draw are deferred to next week.
