Templemore Golf Club News; 

 

Captains Prize Week;  Club Captain Tony O’Toole and Lady Captain Lorrain Ryan had a fantastic response to their Golf week events. The winner of the Captains Prize 2109 was Eoin Fitzpatrick and the winner of the Cadet Youths was Niall Moloney. A talented young winner Eoin Fitzpatrick and Niall Moloney from the Cadets indicates a great future of talented young golfers coming through and an assurance to the future of the Club.  The week commence with the Vice-Captain Prize S/F on Saturday 6th. and Sunday 7th.  Ladies preliminary round on Tuesday 9th.  Social Mix and Vice-Captain Prize Presentation on Wednesday 10th.  Seniors on Thursday 11th. Men’s Captain (Stroke Play) preliminary round on Friday 12th.  Men’s semi-final and Ladies Final on Saturday 13th. Men’s Captain final on Sunday 14th.  There was a joint presentation in the Club Lounge on Sunday evening 15th.   The weather was fantastic, and the Club Lounge was alive and vibrant with a continental atmosphere due to the excellent weather, relaxation on the balconies to a full moon.  A BRILLANT Night.

 

Captains Mixed Social Golf ;  The Social Mixed Golf 9 holes is continuing in full swing every Wednesday Evening,  Registration 6.30pm .   Winners for Wed. 10th.  1st. Team; Declan Kennedy, Jim Kennedy, Breda Murphy.  2nd. Team;  Mick Keely, Niall Bourke, Mary Hayes. 3rd Team.  Tom McGrath, Mick Carey, Mary Butler.

 

Captains Seniors Golf;   Senior results 11th. July.  A huge turnout for the Captains senior golf. The results were, 1st. Ambrose Purcell, Pascal Whelan, P,O’Connell, Seanie Gleeson.  2nd. George Collins, Jerry Keegan, John Galvin.  3rd. John Hassett, Phil Ryan, Mick Connell, Tom Hogan..  The next away Seniors will be on Monday 15th. in Rathdowney, and Thursday 16th. as usual.

 

Fred Perry Trophy;  Change to competition date;  Seanie’s team is now into the “EAST COAST FINAL” -V- West Waterford on Monday 22nd. July at 4pm. In Templemore.

 

Cadet Youth Competition; There was a 9hole competition for Cadet Youths (15-18) on Thursday 11th. at 6.30 pm.  Under the supervision of Youth Manager Dinny Touhy and assistant Manager Sean Lee.  The winners were; .1st. Niall Moloney, 2nd. Luke Ormond, 3rd. Dylan Carey.  A fantastic performance by all and an indication that the club future is looking promising.

 

“Cadets” Section;   There was a fantastic attendance at the Cadets on Wed.10th.  age 8 to 15 Boys and Girls and youths Age 15 to 18 Boys and Girls.   All members who have a junior family member that has an interest in Golf should encourage them to call in on Wed.  Also if new to the game, clubs will be made available to those that do not have them.  This is an opportunity to build members for the future of the Club.  All training will be in association with CGI (Confederation of Golf Ireland) guidelines and will continue throughout the year.  Do your best to promote this venture.  A special practice range is now in place for the Cadets.  Contact Pat O’ Connell. 087-9205821 Club Juvenile Liaison Officer.

 

Cadet Training Dates;  Due to the great interest it’s decided to continue training on Wed. at 10am and, also on Friday at 10am.

Special Beginner Rate.  Always available is a “Special Fee” for beginners which is guaranteed not to change for 3 years.  This is very attractive for anyone new interested in joining and for those purchasing vouchers to give a life changing experience to someone.  New members are now been accepted.  All current members are encouraged to introduce at least “ONE NEW MEMBER” Lady or Gent, Junior or Student, Seniors Juveniles and Family, Active Retiree’s, Special Needs or any person interested in taking up the sport.  It will be a huge advantage to building the club membership and profile.

 

Welcome back to Lapsed Members;  A special rate for “Lapsed Members” will continue throughout the year.  A “welcomed back” once-off, special rate for Gents €200 and Ladies €170.  This is a great opportunity for golfers, Ladies and Gents who want to return to this great social game.
