President’s Prize: Pat Maher wins by a distance

The decision of our President’s John Stapleton and Kay Brennan to hold their respective competition’s over the one weekend proves that thinking outside the box yields unexpected outcomes. The Friday and Saturday staging resulted in a flurry of activity in the Clubhouse and the well attended function on Saturday night in the Templemore Arms for the presentation of prizes was testament to the enjoyment of all involved.

Munster Finals of Irish Ladies Golf Union

Congratulations to the ladies of Templemore Golf Club on their tremendous win over the ladies from Dromoland Golf Club in the Munster Finals of Irish Ladies Golf Union Inter Club Championships (Minor Cup) played in Clonmel.

It is a great achievement for Templemore Club to progress so far in this hotly contested competition. The competition began last April with close to seventy teams taking part from all over Munster, and has been running right through the summer.

The team had success all the way and at times couldn’t believe their good fortune when overcoming bigger clubs like Clonmel, Slievenamon, Mitchelstown, East Cork, Dooks and finally Dromoland on Sat last.

Templemore Golf Club is very proud of these ladies who have raised the profile of the club to a national level. Well done and thanks also to the caddies and manager Margie. The ladies say they met some smashing people from all the various clubs and must also add that they had great fun along the way. ‘On the several trips to Cork – to either Fota or Douglas clubs some of our people hadn’t quite figured out the Dunkettle Roundabout – on one occasion ending up at the Crematorium in Little Island – we did promise no name-dropping – they know who they are….’
